Community Organizing

     ESOP, (Empowering & Strengthening Ohio’s People) was founded in 1993 to create organized leadership around issues impacting neighborhood life. Community residents are at the forefront of all organizing efforts, as they are in the best position to create and implement change.  ESOP has worked on a variety of neighborhood issues throughout the 1990s and 2000s. Over the years we have taken on a more issue based reputation as the fight against predatory lending and justice for homeowners swept to the forefront of all neighborhood issues in Cleveland and the surrounding counties.  However ESOP continues to organize residents around a variety of issues to fight back and move forward toward stronger communities in Cleveland and Toledo.  

Current organizing campaigns include:

• Principal Correction
• Central City Citizens (Toledo)
• Residents of the Old West End (Toledo)
• Concerned Citizens of Mt. Pleasant (Cleveland)
• Bank/Lending Organizing
• Vacant properties
